An Italian Thanksgiving

Just before Thanksgiving, LEDS met for dinner on Saturday.  Due to scheduling conflicts, we were down to just six of us.  So rather than make a large complicated meal, we stuck with pasta!  We've done Italian before, but who doesn't love pasta??

To start us off, Becky and Rich brought along some meatballs and brought along some bread.  That, along with some mulled wine, kept our appetites satiated while the hosts kept on cooking.  We were regretting our stovetop choice of 4 burners (when we were building) over 5 that night.  We had to juggle 6 pots/pans!

Christy and Mike were the hosts and made the main entree.  We offered two types of pasta, an alfredo sauce, and a creamy tomato sauce.  We also stir-fried some shrimp and some local sausages.  Then it was a "make your own pasta" meal.

Kathleen and Pete made a yummy salad.

Becky and Rich brought the most amazing homemade apple pie!

And once again, we forgot to photograph ANY of the dinner!

However, after dinner, we all gathered in the living room to play some Apples to Apples.  Nothing like a little wine and beer to improve the quality of the game!  I don't think we ever officially ended the game.  Once we pulled out dessert, the game was over.  :)

Christy was there, too... but being the photographer, didn't get her photo taken that night.  LOL

Well, it's about time....

As a group, we've been discussing having some sort of a record of our dining adventures for some time now.  The journal somehow ended after the first entry.  And ever since, we've been trying to come up with something.  Thus, enter the age of technology.  A blog!  Now everyone can participate and enjoy the reflections.

Our dinner group has been meeting for over six years now.  We have five couples.  Every other month, a couple hosts the dinner at their house.  The hosts provide the beverages, the main entree, and any dishes still in need of being covered (appetizer?  dessert?)  On occasion, about once a year, we'll get together as a group to meet at a restaurant.  Usually this occurs over the holidays, to make it easier on everyone.

If you are stumbling across this blog, welcome!  We hope to include our dinner recipes along with the anecdotes from the night.  Here's hoping for many, many more years of dinners to come!
